Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR has its origins in French medicine, and was established when Dr. Francine Shapiro noticed that eye movement variations were directly correlated to recalling particular memories. More specifially, eye movement was shown to depend on the emotions attached to each individual memory. It is similar to CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) in that it helps us to connect to a memory and process it with new perspective and establish a more adapted belief of what occured.
